Overview:

Sappi North America is looking for an experienced communications professional who can manage a broad range of assignments including:

  • Reputation Management, Public Relations, and Agency Management
  • Executive Communications
  • Employee Communications
  • Sustainability Communications Crisis/Issue Management
  • Media Relations
  • Social Media
  • Corporate Communications budget management
  • Community Relations

 

Responsibilities:

  • Based on input from the senior management, develop internal and external communication strategies to address key issues facing Sappi and strengthen relationships with employees, media, investors, and the public at large.
  • Demonstrate increased levels of sound judgment and initiative to manage and execute strategic corporate communications plans.
  • Direct employee communications utilizing various vehicles such as the global intranet, corporate and mill-based newsletters, announcements, virtual and in-person town halls, social media, global communications, employee app, quarter-end communications and business updates.
  • Implement effective communications that enhance employee engagement.
  • Serve as primary media contact for industry, local, and national press; manage all media inquiries both proactive pitches and reactive responses with support from legal; provide content for company press releases.
  • Implement crisis and issues management plans.
  • Development of communication strategies for sustainability content including sustainability report, social media materials, video scripts, and messaging/talking points.
  • Manage corporate sponsorships.
  • Support marketing communications as required (event-based PR, campaign launches, et.
  • Liaison with Sappi, Ltd on earnings releases, corporate announcements, and corporate branding initiatives.
  • Represent Sappi North America on the global communications team and Global Brand Council.
  • Facilitate high-quality translations into Quebec French when needed.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 3-5 Years experience in Corporate Communications
