Safety Engineer
Purpose of the role
Focusing primarily on occupational safety, Safety Engineer will support the HSE Manager in all matters relating to the environment, safety, health, training and authorities communication and relations.
Responsibilities
- Provide support and guidance to department staff to assist them in maintaining a safe working environment in compliance with environmental/safety regulations, standards and practices.
- Participate in various process safety studies/activities, such as: RCA, 5W, incident investigations, compliance reviews, or insurance surveys. Participate in or lead risk studies or conduct consequence analyses.
- Perform work permit reviews, behavior-based safety inspections, job site safety compliance inspections, including hazard analyses and safe work procedures, and prepare written reports and recommendations.
- Perform construction site and/or area safety inspections of department facilities and operations.
- Update HSE documentation and databases periodically by preparing specific reporting
- Organize and manage periodic medical surveillance and collaborate with the company doctor and support with occupational health care
- Promote a culture of safety by fostering awareness, communication, and participation in safety initiatives.
- Collaborate on safety training programs to educate employees on safe work practices and procedures.
- Participate in developing and promoting on- or off-job safety educational programs, to address safety issues or concerns. Assigned tasks may include: preparation of articles for publication, development of promotional materials, and delivery of presentations.
- Collaborate on planning, organization and implementation of Global Safety Awareness Month Event (Safety Day)
- Participate in contractor prequalification evaluation activities and review contractor safety submittals for compliance to corporate requirements.
- Take care of application and support of the visitor instruction program SIT (Interflex)
Qualifications/Competencies
- University Degree in Safety Engineering or equivalent
- Fluent in Italian and English
- Prior short experience in a manufacturing environment will be a plus
- Passion for safety
- Ability to adapt communication to different stakeholders
- Planning and organization skills
