Major Job Responsibilities / Requirements

The Automation Technician is expected to demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning, self‑development, process improvement, maintenance excellence, and open knowledge sharing. Training will occur on the job, online, and in classroom settings. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Daily automation support and control system server administration for:

    • Honeywell Experion DCS Systems

    • Rockwell PLCs

    • FactoryTalk View

    • AC/DC Drives

    • Additional systems as business needs evolve

  • Process network support and training.

  • Shift and area E/I maintenance support.

  • Operator and production support.

  • Downtime and startup support for area maintenance.

  • Capital project installation and startup assistance.

  • Control system tuning and troubleshooting.

  • Training assistance for new hires, shift, and area E/I personnel.

  • Configuration standards development and oversight.

  • Software upgrades to maintain vendor‑supported versions.

  • Lifecycle planning development and implementation.

  • Work request initiation in SAP for identified tasks.

  • Team‑based collaboration across all mill areas as assigned.


Qualifications

  • Technical degree or experience — Minimum two (2)‑year technical degree or five (5) years full‑time industrial, commercial, and/or military E/I work experience.
  • Internal candidate requirement — Must be a Level A E&I Journeyman.

  • Communication skills — Strong written and verbal communication abilities.

  • Computer proficiency — SAP and Microsoft Office Suite proficient.

Compensation

  • Current classified rate, with contractual increases per the Labor Agreement: $49.44/hr with progression opportunities up to $54.59/hr.
