Civil Engineer
Civil Engineer
The Civil Engineer will be assigned projects within their discipline, or provide expert engineering support to other project managers on machine rebuilds, alterations, building additions or improvement projects. This involves designing, estimating, preparing appropriation requests, scheduling, developing equipment specifications, coordinating construction, cost control, operating manuals, maintenance manuals, spare parts, and start-up training. Work will consist of managing designers, vendors, consultants, and contractors as required to complete projects in a safe, cost competitive, and timely manner.
Essential Functions
- Manage capital projects through all phases including pre-feasibility study, conceptual design, execution planning, detailed engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, optimization, and close-out.
- Develop scope of work, schedules, and estimates for capital projects as required for budgeting.
- Provide technical engineering and project management oversight for the design, installation, and maintenance of plant systems.
- Assist with troubleshooting related to operations and maintenance.
- Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies related to area.
- Prepare hydro dam safety quarterly inspection reports and annual Dam Safety Surveillance Monitoring Plans and Reports for submittal to Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC).
Entry Requirements
- Bachelors of Civil Engineering degree from an ABET accredited university required.
- Civil engineering experience in an industrial setting including proven project management, structural design and civil infrastructure design skills is preferred, but entry level will be considered.
- Pulp and Paper experience and familiarity with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Project) and AutoCAD preferred.
