Overview:

 

This position is accountable for purchasing and harvesting 60,000 tons of standing timber (40% summer accessible) with the goal to supply high quality  fiber to the Cloquet Mill from portions of Ashland, Bayfield, Sawyer and Price counties in North Central WI. This position is intended to provide the incumbent with the necessary experience to eventually qualify for the Forester 3 position. As such, the entry requirements for the position are intended to include;

 

Forestry field skills, ability to cruise timber, lay out forest roads, work with contract logging companies, comply with Best Management Practices, negotiating skills, computer literacy in spreadsheets, word processing, network systems access skills and knowledge of wood procurement information systems, excellent interpersonal skills, General knowledge of Certification programs, general knowledge of the forest products industry.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • B.S. Degree in Forestry (preferred)
  • Strong communication skills
  • Computer literacy in spreadsheets, ARC, word processing and network systems.
  • Strong value for safety.
  • Willingness to travel throughout the Lake States. The focus area will be NW Wisconsin.
