Preventative Maintenance Technician (Lube Tech)
Starting Wage: $32.89/hour | Union Position | Full Benefits Package
Sappi is seeking a dedicated Preventative Maintenance Technician (Lube Tech) to support the reliability and performance of our mill’s mechanical systems. This role plays a critical part in ensuring equipment longevity through expert lubrication, contamination control, and inspection.
This opportunity offers a competitive starting wage of $32.89/hour, along with a comprehensive benefits package. You’ll work both independently and collaboratively in a team-based environment, contributing to the health and efficiency of our operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform daily lubrication rounds including inspections, reservoir top-offs, grease re-lubrication, and oil sampling.
- Support team members during shutdowns, vacations, and other coverage needs.
- Manage lubricant inventory and ensure proper usage within your area.
- Utilize CMMS and LubeIT software to track lubrication routes, log hours, and report equipment issues.
- Operate mobile filtration equipment and maintain lubrication points with proper labeling.
- Continuously improve lubrication processes through proactive enhancements like extended lines, sample ports, and automatic lubricators.
- Troubleshoot lubrication-related equipment issues and evaluate oil analysis results.
- Calculate re-grease quantities and frequencies based on equipment needs.
- Apply predictive maintenance tools such as infrared thermography, ultrasonic testing, patch testing, and crackle tests.
- Participate in Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) teams to drive long-term reliability.
- Uphold environmental compliance and maintain clean, organized workspaces.
What We’re Looking For:
- Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on experience with machine lubrication systems.
- Solid computer skills and familiarity with maintenance tracking software.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Commitment to safety, precision, and continuous improvement.
- Valid driver's license with demonstrated safe driving record.
- High School degree or equivelent.
