This position will provide Project Engineering support for the Cloquet Mill.   Main duties include engineering and managing capital projects from scoping through successful start-up.  Work will consist of managing designers, vendors, consultants, and contractors as required to complete projects in a safe, cost competitive, and timely manner.  Occasional maintenance technical support will also be required.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Manage capital projects through all phases including pre-feasibility study, conceptual design, execution planning, detailed engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, optimization, and close-out.
  • Develop scope of work, schedules, and estimates for capital projects as required for budgeting
  • Provide technical engineering and project management oversight for the design, installation, and maintenance of plant systems.
  • Assist with troubleshooting related to operations and maintenance
  • Work within multiple project timelines
  • Make safety a priority in all aspects of the job – from personal safety, managing vendors and contractors, and ensuring project are installed and implemented with proper safety reviews and considerations.

 

Experience and education requirements / preferences:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering, or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 2 years' related experience; industrial project management experience is preferred.
  • Experience in applying leadership and team skills.
  • A working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Project), SAP, and AutoCAD
  • Experience with problem solving and decision-making techniques (ie. Kepner Tregoe, six Sigma, etc)
  • Perform root cause analysis and work with operations and maintenance to resolve repetitive issues and increase quality and productivity
  • Proficiency in the development and management of long-term plans and budgets, project management, and the reconciliation of actual expenditures to budget
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills are required.
  • Electrical Engineer: power system distribution and generation, relaying, DCS, PLC, maintenance
  • Mechanical Engineer:  piping design, process design, HVAC, ASME, and maintenance
