Job Title: Pulp Business Operations Supervisor

Schedule: Rotating 12-hour shifts, including holidays and weekends

Position Summary:
The Pulp Business Supervisor is responsible for leading safe, efficient, and environmentally sound operations within the Pulp Business area. This role ensures production goals are met while fostering a high-performance team culture. The supervisor will actively engage with employees, drive process improvements, and ensure compliance with safety and quality standard.

Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead by example to promote safety, accountability, and collaboration.
  • Coach and evaluate team members to support performance and development.
  • Facilitate daily safety talks, training plans, and individual check-ins.
  • Maintain accurate records of coaching, counseling, and performance discussions.

 

Daily Operations

  • Prepare for and lead Centerline meetings; review KPIs and shift performance.
  • Monitor production systems (PI, Proficy) and respond to process deviations.
  • Conduct shift handoffs, review eLogger entries, and ensure accurate documentation.
  • Manage shift staffing, training assignments, and lockout verifications.

 

Safety & Environmental Compliance

  • Conduct risk assessments, Environmental BMP tours, and safety PM’s.
  • Respond to environmental alarms and ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Lead safety improvement initiatives and track progress.

 

Maintenance & Reliability

  • Collaborate with maintenance to identify and prioritize work.
  • Enter and manage SAP notifications; ensure PMs are completed and closed.
  • Support emergency and urgent work identification and communication.

 

Administrative Duties

  • Submit timecards and manage overtime postings.
  • Maintain crew schedules and update HR on training progress.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field preferred.
  • 3–5 years of supervisory experience in manufacturing required.
  • Knowledge of pulping, utilities, and recovery operations preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, PI, Proficy, and SAP.
  • Experience in unionized environments and demonstrated leadership ability.
  • Must have a valid driver's license with a demonstrated safe driving record.
