We are looking for a dynamic Maintenance Superintendent to lead our dedicated maintenance team, ensure asset reliability, and drive excellence in plant performance. What You’ll Do

As the Maintenance Superintendent, you will oversee the mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation maintenance functions across our pulp mill operations. Your leadership will directly impact equipment reliability, production uptime, and the safety and performance of a large and skilled workforce. Reporting to the Mill Maintenance Manager, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Leadership & People Development
    ▪ Lead, mentor and develop a large team of supervisors, planners, and skilled tradespeople.
    ▪ Foster a culture of accountability, safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
    ▪ Support career progression and skills development within the team.
  • Maintenance Execution
    ▪ Ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective maintenance execution across all disciplines (mechanical, electrical, instrumentation).
    ▪ Provide technical oversight and coaching to supervisors and craftsmen.
    ▪ Drive root cause analysis and corrective action for repeat issues.
  • Planning & Reliability Oversight
    ▪ Oversee the maintenance planning function to ensure accurate scoping, scheduling, and resource allocation.
    ▪ Collaborate with reliability engineering to improve equipment performance and reduce unplanned downtime.
    ▪ Champion preventive and predictive maintenance strategies.
  • Operational Collaboration
    ▪ Partner with operations, engineering, and production teams to align maintenance with mill priorities.
    ▪ Participate in daily and weekly coordination meetings to optimize resource use and reduce equipment constraints.
  • Budget & Performance Management
    ▪ Support development and tracking of maintenance budgets and key performance indicators (KPIs).
    ▪ Identify cost savings and productivity improvements while maintaining asset integrity.

What You Bring

  • A bachelor’s degree or diploma in Mechanical, Electrical or Industrial Engineering (or equivalent trade qualifications with significant leadership experience).
  • 10+ years of progressive maintenance experience in heavy industrial or process environments, ideally in pulp & paper.
  • Proven leadership of multi-discipline teams, including supervisors and frontline craftsmen.
  • Deep knowledge of maintenance planning, scheduling, and reliability practices, to include experience working within a work management system.
  • Demonstrated leadership in a proactive and caring safety environment where employee safety and accountability is prioritized. 
  • Strong commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
  • Excellent communication, coaching, and organizational skills.
