Sappi’s Information Technology (IT) team is driving operational excellence, security resilience and digital innovation at scale across all diverse businesses.  Covering all aspects from IT strategy, people, process, solution and governance, the team enables Sappi to streamline operations, enhance customer experience and maximize the productivity and engagement of employees through state-of-the-art technologies to ensure all divisions are fit for a long term sustainable and thriving future. 

 

Sappi’s cybersecurity team is a global, dynamic team consisting of around 10 dedicated professionals who are at the forefront of safeguarding our organization against digital threats. Leveraging modern technology for threat detection and response, cyber awareness, mail, and vulnerability management, we stay proactive in defending our digital infrastructure. Collaborating closely with professional partners, including our external 24/7 SOC, we ensure a comprehensive approach to cybersecurity that keeps pace with evolving threats. 

  

Role and responsibilities:  

You will be responsible for: 

  • Analysing and recommending security controls and procedures for information systems. 

  • Monitoring systems for security incidents, vulnerabilities, and trends, and respond promptly to incidents. 

  • Collaborating with external SOC for regional alerts and incidents. 

  • Staying informed about threats to the Sappi environment and escalate as necessary. 

  • Assisting in information security governance, training, and awareness programs. 

  • Conducting cybersecurity investigations and ensure compliance with regulations. 

  • Securing digital environments, execute security maintenance, and improve incident response processes. 

  • Auditing and analysing incident and request tickets for quality and recommends improvements with updates to knowledge articles. 

  • Producing trend analysis reports for identifying tasks for automation, leading to reduction in tickets and optimization of effort. 

  • Training junior security technicians and managing of external security contractors.   

 

In this role you will be reporting directly to the European Cybersecurity Lead.  

 

Requirements: 

  • 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience in cybersecurity. Degree or relevant qualification in IT/Computing, or equivalent enterprise experience. 

  • You have excellent communication skills in English 

  • You are able to take on new opportunities and tough challenges with a sense of urgency, high energy, and enthusiasm”. 

  • IT expertise spanning networking, infrastructure, operating systems 

 

Good to have:

  • Knowledge of Dutch, German and/or French is an asset.  

  • Industry certifications such as ISC Security, CompTIA Security+, Network+, or Microsoft Certified Associate; familiarity with standards like NIST, ISO27001, POPIA, GDPR  

  • Hands on experience with vulnerability management, cyber awareness programs, 3rd party risk assessments, and Microsoft O365 security. 

  

Location: 

This job can be located in Maastricht – Netherlands, Gratkorn - Austria, Cracow – Poland. 

 

Traveling:  

It is expected to have some traveling (up to 10%) to the locations of group.
