We’re on the lookout for an experienced Safety Technician to assist the Mill by ensuring that the mill’s safety, health and risk requirements (particularly those related to legal compliance) are identified, communicated and adequately complied with through the maintenance of an effective OSHAS 18001 management system.


As a Safety Technician, you will be responsible for:

 

  • Review all risks mill-wide to determine high level risks and Implement relevant and appropriate plans eliminate/reduce/mitigate risks to the mill.
  • Ensures the mill’s emergency preparedness and response plans via simulations/drills.
  • Ensures that the mill’s emergency response team is adequately equipped with the skills, resources and training as required during an emergency.
  • Ensures Mill REA in respect of Insurance Requirements
  • Oversees Mill Security Department.
  •  Maintains and ensures the sustainability of the OHSAS 18001 health and safety management system via an integrated SHEQ management system.
  • Monitor health and safety performance and maintains records through effective document control system
  • Ensures legal compliance to health and safety laws and regulations mill-wide.
  • Implements proactive measures to curb injuries and other safety incidents mill-wide.
  • Keep abreast of health and safety legal regulations and updates relevant section heads on applicable legislation
  • Liaise with legal consultants to ensure mill legal status pertaining to health, safety and security requirements.
  • Ensures a safe working environment with the development of safety and housekeeping strategies.
  • Ensures that the Section complies in all respects with the relevant statutory requirements (OHS Act, Legal Appointment, etc).

 

 

What are we looking for?

  • 3 Year degree/diploma – Environmental Health/Safety Management
  • Certified as an Auditor
  • At least 5 years relevant risk experience
  • Computer literate (MS Office Package)
  • SAP experience will be advantageous
