We’re on the lookout for an experienced Grinder Controller to Manage and operate the Cone system, Grinder loading and Log Washing Station, as well as taking samples for analysis on shift to ensure continuous supply of good quality pulp for the Newsprint machine.
This role reports into the Shift Superintendent PM2.
As an Out Grinder controller, you will be responsible for:
1. Log Washer:
- Manage conveyors, log washing, and surrounding areas.
- Ensure the Cone Deck is fully loaded during shifts.
- Coordinate wood supply with supervisors.
- Monitor wood quality and remove out-of-spec logs.
- Maintain cleanliness of conveyors and work areas.
2. Grinder Loader:
- Keep Cone Deck and Grinders fully loaded.
- Prevent and resolve grinder jam-ups.
- Maintain cleanliness of grinders and grinder stones.
3. Sampler:
- Collect and deliver samples as scheduled.
- Maintain cleanliness of sample points and areas.
General Responsibilities:
- Follow all safety regulations and procedures.
- Maintain housekeeping and safety standards in the plant.
- Inspect and operate assigned equipment correctly.
- Troubleshoot machine issues and escalate unresolved problems.
- Collaborate with supervisors for engineering support.
- Support QCDEP, ISO1400, and 5S program objectives.
- Assist during plant shutdowns.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned by supervisors.
What are we looking for:
- Matric with Maths and Physical Science or N3 in Pulp and Paper.
- 12 months experience in a production environment.
- Relevant plant license is advantageous.
