We’re on the lookout for an experienced Pulp Feeder to operate pulp conveyors and manage all Repulper storage systems. The role involves ensuring the correct ratio and consistency of pulp reels and bales are supplied efficiently to the PM1 and/or PM2 raw stock chest, enabling continuous and safe operation of PM1 and PM2.
As a Pulp Feeder, you will be responsible for:
Personal Development, Health, Legal, and Plant Licenses
- Ensures all personal legal licenses and annual medical screenings are completed before their expiry dates.
- Keeps the personal Portfolio of Evidence (POE) updated with new and renewed legal and plant license copies.
Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE)
- Starts each shift with a Safety Moment.
- Reports all safety non-conformances and near misses, ensuring a safe working environment at the Repulpers.
- Complies with PPE requirements and maintains housekeeping in the Repulper area according to 5S standards.
- Adheres to environmental objectives by monitoring effluent and water usage, reporting issues in SAP and to the shift superintendent, and following up to ensure corrective actions are taken.
- Addresses and contains spills as required.
- Ensures the wire bin in the Repulper area is emptied regularly.
Plant Operations
- Operates the pulp feed conveyors and feeds material into the pulpers.
- Operates the bale feed conveyor and all Repulper storage and feed conveyors efficiently and safely.
- Clears blockages on feed conveyors as per safety procedures and regulations.
- Removes wire from bales before feeding the pulper.
- Ensures the correct ratio of bales is fed onto the conveyor.
- Removes dirty wrappers from bleached bales and foreign objects from broke before feeding.
- Assists the pulper operator in clearing blockages in the pulper.
- Maintains Repulper equipment to minimize delays to the pulper or machine operations.
- Reports equipment defects and unsafe acts or areas to the Outside Operator.
- Completes any additional tasks assigned by supervisors, ensuring competence and safety.
- Maintains a detailed shift log and ensures proper handover at the end of each shift.
Production and Engineering Maintenance Work
- Conducts plant inspections and reports issues to the Outside Operator.
- Follows lockout and local isolation procedures when performing production tasks, such as clearing blockages or cleaning confined spaces.
- Ensures all open work permits are closed and deisolated before the shift ends. If unresolved, provides a thorough handover to the next shift.
Requirements:
- Matric with Maths and Science.
- N3 in Pulp & Paper.
- 3 Months experience in a Pulp and Paper industry.
