We’re on the lookout for a Forestry Business Analyst to support the identification, analysis, and implementation of business process improvements in Sappi’s Forestry operations. The successful candidate will be engaged in a dynamic environment where innovation and continuous improvement are valued.
As a Forestry Business Analyst, you will be responsible for:
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to gather, integrate, and analyse data related to processes across the forest supply chain.
- Performing data validation, working closely with data owners to refine and improve data sources.
- Interpreting data findings to provide actionable insights that contribute to the development of business improvement strategies.
- Assisting Forestry team members and managers to translate their business needs into technical specifications.
- Engaging in process mapping and contributing to the development of process documentation that serves as a foundation for improvement initiatives.
- Participating in the development and trial of new enabling forestry technologies.
- Supporting the development of business cases, providing data and analysis.
- Contributing to scenario analysis and modelling to evaluate process enhancements.
- Participating in assessing the feasibility and potential impact of proposed changes.
- Driving process changes by promoting the implementation of new tools and technologies, creating training materials, and supporting change management initiatives.
- Supporting change impact assessments for process changes to identify areas where targeted coaching is essential for employees to adapt effectively, and actively participating in delivering the necessary coaching and support.
- Setting up reports and system interfaces to enable the reporting of key performance indicators and monitoring mechanisms.
- Preparing reports on the performance and effectiveness of implemented process changes.
What are we looking for?
- Bachelor’s Degree in Forestry Science, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent.
- More than 2 years of proven experience in business analysis, data analytics, and process improvement, preferably within the forestry industry.
- Strong analytical skills with experience in using database and data visualisation tools and techniques to provide actionable insights and conclusions.
- Proficient in common Excel functions and in data processing, including some experience in analysing large datasets using Excel, SQL, and Python or R.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to operate in a highly cross-functional environment.
- Desirable, but not a prerequisite: Experience in the application of current and new enabling technologies and tools relevant to forest operations (e.g., simulation software, GIS, forestry management systems, data intelligence software, sensing technologies, scheduling systems, and machine learning).
- Valid Code B (or Code 08) driver’s license.
