We are hiring!

 

We’re on the lookout for an experienced MasterTechnician QCS (Quality Control Systems) to limit and prevent downtime, by solving problems on the inter-systems level down to the equipment level, and to ensure ultimate utilisation of system to system interface, by improving it daily.

 

 

 As a MasterTechnician QCS, you will be responsible to: 

  • Ensure equipment uptime, calibration, and optimisation of all electrical, electronic, and instrumentation equipment for the production of quality pulp and paper.
  • Assist with solving everyday plant problems having a complexity that reaches beyond the trained knowledge of Artisans, Foremen, and Technicians decreasing plant downtime, by making educated decisions, and using specialised techniques with the aid of specialised measuring equipment.
  • Fault finding and repair on equipment up to card level and depending on availability of the relevant spares.
  • Report such problems to direct supervisor and Maintenance Engineer, investigate possible causes, research all possible solutions and make a choice to the best solution and provide recommendations for most effective and economical solutions to prevent re-occurrence.
  • Manage and execute preventative and improvement steps, making use of the support of maintenance personnel, technicians, or contractors depending on the nature of the specific task.
  • Ensure compliance with engineering standards of work done by inspecting and commissioning plant modifications.
  • Ensure accurate documentation updates according to the Ngodwana Management of Change procedure.
  • Obtain information and knowledge from Suppliers of equipment installed during a project. Knowledge obtained to transfer to fellow Technicians, Section Engineers, Artisans, and Foremen, by compiling manuals. Double check such manuals set up by Junior Technicians and Technicians.
  • Give on-the-job training to Artisans, Foremen, and Technicians.
  • Research possibilities of increasing performance and effectiveness of equipment, by continually keeping up with technology through supplier technical releases, attending demonstrations, training courses, and presentations supplied by contractors.
  • Advise the Section Engineer about new methods and systems.
  • Do investigations, compile scope of work, cost calculations, initial and final design, monitoring of installations, cold and hot commissioning, compile and follow up of punch lists, and ensure proper documentation.
  • Compile fault-finding, calibration, and optimisation procedures for new equipment to be used by maintenance personnel and other technicians.
  • Identify training requirements needed for daily tasks performed by Artisans, Foremen, and Technicians and act as a mentor for Technicians-in-Training.
  • Identify measuring and fault-finding equipment requirements and ensure Technicians have the know-how to fully utilise such equipment.
  • Submit monthly and weekly reports on section activity for the DCS Engineer.

 

What are we looking for?

  • NQF6: N. Diploma
  • SAP knowledge will be advantageous
  • NH Dip / B Degree in Electrical Engineering will be advantageous
  • 8 years’ heavy industry experience
