Sappi Ngodwana is looking for an experienced Outside Operator Digester#2 to safely and efficiently operate Fibreline #2 Digester outside equipment under his/her control, to ensure optimum production thereby reducing downtime.

 

As an Outside Operator, your responsibilities will include:

 

  • Must have a good understanding and technical knowledge of the plant.
  • Monitors, rectifies, and reports all deficiencies of the Cooking, Screening, Washing, Noodle and Auxiliary sections in the field (Outside the control room).
  • Initiates notifications to various maintenance Departments.
  • Supervises and ensures high standard 5S housekeeping for section
  • Remains in constant radio communication with process controllers
  • Keeps and maintains a high standard of safety awareness
  • Performs regular quality plant inspections and completes required checklists.
  • Lines up plant for start-up and blocks it in for shut down in accordance to established best practices
  • Performs lockouts on the plant equipment for plant maintenance using approved safe work procedures.
  • Writes out clearance certificates for plant maintenance
  • Reliefs on plant sections where licenced
  • Identification; communication and mitigation of risks
  • Ensures quality handover to the next shift, at the place of work

 

What are we looking for?

  • Matric with Maths & Science or N3 Pulp and Paper or relevant N3 Engineering Studies
  • 1-3 years relevant production experience
