We’re on the lookout for a Process Controller in Training-Energy to develop into a fully competent Process Controller – Energy, through the successful completion of a structured training and development programme, including the attainment of all required licences, technical competencies and practical operational experience.
As a Process Controller in Training-Energy, you will be responsible for:
- Assist with the safe and efficient operation of boilers, turbines, utilities, and associated Energy Plant equipment in accordance with operating procedures.
- Complete the required training programme, operating manuals, and plant licences to become a competent Process Controller.
- Conduct routine plant inspections, monitor equipment performance, and report abnormalities or process deviations to the Shift Superintendent.
- Monitor and control process parameters through the Distributed Control System (DCS) and perform operational adjustments under supervision.
- Carry out pre-start inspections, start-up, shutdown, isolation, and lock-out procedures in accordance with safety standards.
- Maintain accurate operational records, complete shift handovers, and report production, quality, and equipment issues.
- Comply with all SHEQ requirements by promoting safe work practices, maintaining good housekeeping, and participating in safety observations and risk assessments.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to improve plant performance, reliability, energy efficiency, and environmental compliance.
What are we looking for?
- Matric (Grade 12) with Maths & Physical Science or N3 in Pulp and Paper.
- A relevant NQF Level 5 qualification or currently studying towards one.
- National Diploma / Degree in Engineering or related fields will be advantageous.
- Minimum of 2 years' plant experience within an Energy/Boiler environment.
- Relevant plant licences - Energy/Boiler plants will be advantageous.
