We’re on the lookout for an Process Operator Dryend to operate the Newsprint Dry End section safely and efficiently to ensure optimum production output and quality at the best cost with minimum downtime.  

 

As an Process Operator Dryend you will be responsible for:

 

Operations & Production:

  • Perform pre-start inspections of dryer screens, ropes, and separators.
  • Operate and control the dryer section, calendar stack, and pope reel.
  • Control dry-end draws and assist with felt and wire changes.
  • Coordinate basis weight, trim, and speed changes with relevant operators.

Quality Control & Equipment Monitoring:

  • Inspect paper sheets for defects and report non-conformances.
  • Test reel density and hardness and compare with QCS profiles.
  • Ensure correct dryer screen and rope tension at all times.
  • Conduct shift inspections and report equipment deviations.

Health, Safety, Environment & Quality (HSEQ):

  • Comply with all health, safety, environmental, and quality procedures.
  • Report accidents, unsafe conditions, and fire hazards immediately.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
  • Safely operate equipment, including the overhead crane, in line with company policies.

 

What are we looking for?

  • Matric with Mathematics and Physical Science, or N3 in Pulp and Paper.
  • 1–3 years’ machine operating experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
