We’re on the lookout for an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer Projects to ensure that Mill Projects are executed and managed to the agreed schedule, cost and engineering standard that enables the overall plant to attain world class OEE levels and to undertake detailed electrical engineering design functions that include electrical and reticulation design, instrument and equipment specification and network designs.

 

As a Senior Electrical Engineer Projects, you will be responsible for:

  • Scoping, business case development, schedules and resources:
  • Works with and co-ordinates cross functional teams, including internal teams, external parties (such as consultants, equipment manufacturers and contractor) to develop business cases for projects that will impact the mill.
  • Prepare the scope of work for projects and develop the technical enquiries necessary to obtain the costs to implement the project.  
  • Develop work breakdown structures, resource and time schedules for projects.
  • Prepare and review and approve project schedules prepared by mill planners and contractors.
  • Determine, review and maintain the resource requirements across the portfolio of projects.
  • Managing the design, specification and implementation of new equipment into the Ngodwana process. This includes: Calculation & sizing electrical reticulation networks; Specification of suitable electrical, instrumentation and control equipment that meet project requirements and mill/SANS standards; Completing detailed electrical designs through supporting calculations; Planning & designing of single line distribution diagrams; Managing electrical, instrumentation & control installations. Testing, commissioning and handover; Detailed understanding of distributed control system coding; Drawing up the engineering plan/proposal with personnel and budget allocations; Ensuring that project costs and personnel allocation are managed to budget.  
  • Provide electrical engineering services to the mill by: Offering specialist advice on electrical equipment design and specification; Providing mill stand-by support; Vendor and OEM supplier sourcing and review; Reviewing mill electrical, instrumentation and control standards and drafting new standards where required.; Administration of the mill electrical and instrumentation design software & databases. 
  • Contribute to the health, safety and environment in relevant projects of the Ngodwana.
  • Ensure that project management and engineering know-how (work processes, equipment and technologies) are available and shared within the mill by: Ensuring that all electronic databases are kept up to date including DataViewer, Smartplant and project files; Ensuring that all project raw data is correctly captured and stored in the correct folders; Disseminating project know how through reports, reviews, presentations and meetings; Initiating and chairing project co-ordination meetings workshops, reviews and seminars. 
  • Manage human resources effectively and contributing to departmental decision-making.

 

What are we looking for? 

  • BSc or National Diploma in Electrical Engineering.
  • Government Certificate of Competency (GCC) – Factories.
  • 6 to 10 years relevant experience within a heavy industry environment that includes design exposure.
  • Proven management experience in dealing with cross functional teams.
