We’re on the lookout for a Sewerage Operator to manage and oversee the effective treatment of Domestic & Industrial sewerage, (screening, oxidation, clarification and disinfecting) for release into the Elands River.
As a Sewerage Operator you will be responsible for:
Plant Operations
- Monitor and adjust chlorine residual levels hourly to ensure effective disinfection of treated effluent.
- Control and optimize sludge recycling processes continuously to maintain plant efficiency.
- Adjust aeration levels as required to support effective biological treatment.
- Monitor incoming effluent quality continuously for potential toxic substances and take corrective action where necessary.
- Record equipment performance and take corrective action to ensure optimal plant operation.
- Conduct routine sludge testing (hourly) to maintain process control and treatment efficiency.
- De-sludge treatment plants as required (typically daily) to maintain operational effectiveness.
- Carry out plant and equipment cleaning and general housekeeping daily to ensure a safe and efficient working environment.
SHEQ – Safety, Health, Environment & Quality
- Practice compliance to Sappi's "8 Life Saving Rules" and "Earth Saving Rules".
- Ensure compliance with SHEQ requirements and investigate incidents to implement corrective actions.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping at all times.
- Participate in and promote BBS observation programme according to department objectives.
What are we looking for?
- Grade 12 with Maths and Science or
- N3 Pulp and Paper
- 6 months plant experience will be advantageous
