We’re on the lookout for a Woodyard QC Superintendent to manage and coordinate the functions of the Woodyard Laboratory and ensure that accurate results are produced using relevant methodologies and equipment.
As a Woodyard QC Superintendent, you will be responsible to:
Lab Management
- Manage subordinates in aspects of human resource matters such as recruitment, developmental paths and performance management etc.
- Devise and revise methods and processes for conducting tests to improve quality and service delivery.
- Oversee the testing of samples and calibration of equipment and ensure that the turnaround time is met.
- Review test results and approve additional testing as required.
- Maintain accurate and thorough records of laboratory procedures and results for auditing, compliance with government regulations and training purposes.
- Asses lab equipment for malfunction and troubleshoot by taking equipment for maintenance, repairs or get authorisation for it to be replaced.
- Co-ordinates and control incoming timber and chip quality including timber by visiting timber plantations and BOC suppliers.
- Performs standby duties
Coaching and training
- Train junior staff on relevant methodologies, technical reporting and data interpretation to ensure that they improve their communication and testing skills.
- Educate staff on safety standards on a regular basis and review the safety procedures annually.
Reporting and meetings
- Provide regular feedback to the departmental manager on the operations of the lab.
- Attend and form part of MDT meetings to keep up with new developments and devise ways to better serve the plant.
- Performs standby duties.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
- National Diploma in relevant Science/Engineering field
- BTech in Pulp and Paper will be advantageous
- 3 years’ experience in an industrial laboratory
- 2 years’ experience in people management will be advantageous
