We’re on the lookout for an experienced Communications Practitioner to implement Sappi SA internal communications plan for the business unit, with a tactical support function to relevant stakeholders, including the following: External Communication, Community Relations, Social Impact and Government Relations and align the consistent communication mission of Sappi SA’s strategy and executed in keeping with all Sappi policies and internal guidelines and processes, as well as the IABC best practice.

 

 

As a Communications Practitioner you will be responsible for:

  • Develop and implement operational communication to support business strategies for key stakeholders, including: Risk Department, Employee Well Being, Human Resources, and the General Manager and provide functional and administrative support for the execution of relevant projects and plans.
  • Internal Publicity: Write content for various communication tools including newsletters, flyers, posters and video scripting and storyboarding. Oversee the production processes including photography, proofreading, field testing, and graphic design. Distribute material via the correct channels.
  • Corporate Identity (CI): Oversee the application of Sappi CI to ensure a professional cohesive image of Sappi to enhance the corporate image. This includes CI application on multiple assets such as newsletters, branding, signage and clothing, and the use of Sappi branding at events. Undertake brand audits and oversee replacement of branding such as Sappi banners and other corporate material e.g. new strategy branding.
  • Events: Plan, coordinate and execute key events including: Long Service Events, Retirement Events, GM Review Meetings. Also support key departments in arranging key events such as Global Safety Week and Women’s Day.
  • VIP visits: Assist GM’s office in planning and coordinating key visits such as customer and senior government visits.
  • Financial administration: Compile project budgets and manage spend of approved budget as per Sappi guidelines. Obtain purchase orders from various suppliers. Manage financial administration on SAP including creating orders, doing service acceptances, following up on payments and providing proof of payment to service providers. Maintain financial filing and archiving. Provide insights and support to the Communication Manager Operations in compiling departmental internal communication budget for the business unit.
  • Photography and Videos: Take photos and film footage. Catalogue and archive all photos and video footage in the online footage library.
  • Measure and evaluate the effectiveness of internal communication tools, channels and key messages for impact and effectiveness, including: Newsletter readership and projects.
  • Reporting: Generate weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual communication reports. Participate in departmental planning and review meetings.

  

What are we looking for?

  • Relevant public relations / communications qualification.
  • At least three years’ relevant experience.
  • Code 08 drivers’ license with three years driving experience.
  • Own transport.
