We’re on the lookout for a Projects Manager - Group Scheme to manage the Group Scheme and Chain of custody for Sappi Forests in line with the requirements of the relevant certification schemes. 

 

As a Project Manager - Group Scheme you will be responsible for:.

 

  • Oversee the compliance and certification processes within the group scheme
  • Implement an effective monitoring system, appointing auditors and managing non-compliance issues
  • Maintain and update procedures and standards
  • Handle member relations, including their acceptance, termination and encouragement of eligible non-certified member to join
  • Organise annual events and manage incentive payments 
  • Compile budget and reports
  • Ensure proper use of trademarks and liaison with certification bodies
  • Maintain the integrity of the chain of custody for products 
  • Implement the requirements related to the marketing and sale of products, such as timber legality and the controlled wood due diligence system
  • Provide and effective monitoring system to ensure that Sappi Forests comply with the requirements of the relevant certification system
  • Appoint auditors and follow up on non-compliance and ensure it is corrected 
  • Maintain documented procedures related to chain of custody 
  • Provide information to the relevant certification body as and when required
  • Distribute any national risk assessments to relevant stakeholders
  • Train staff involved in chain of custody
  • Compile an annual report for chain of custody
  • Ensure that labelling and timber accounting records are accurate and meet chain of custody requirements on Timber Control System (TCS)
  • Handle complaints & appeals from stakeholders or auditors
  • Liaise with relevant certification body
  • Keep abreast of certification requirements
  • Maintain, review and update procedures relevant to certification on Metabuilder
  • Particpate in projects relevant to regional objectives 
  • Maintain relationships with specialist organisations to keep abreast with techincal developments 
  • Inform Fibre Supply and Resources staff and timber growers of latest available information and technical knowledge to improve cost effective fibre production
  • Ensure technical alerts from Research are distributed to timber growers

 

What are we looking for?

 

  • Tertiary qualification in forestry, agriculture or natural science
  • At least 8 years experience in timber procurement and/or forestry management
  • A few years' experience of attending audits (internal and external) advantageous
  • Training in certification
