This position is part of the Global MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems) team and primarily responsible for maintaining, supporting and improving MES solutions. In this role you will report directly to the Global Service Team Manager: MES Core. 

 

You will be part of the global IT team responsible to analyze, implement, improve, and support Manufacturing Execution System (MES) solutions for all our global production locations (North America, Europe, South Africa). 
 
Doing this, you will: 

  • learn about various business processes and will translate these into IT solutions 

  • be responsible for creating technical concepts with a strong focus on standardizing processes while still supporting mill specific requirements (e.g. via configuration) 

  • support global changes and extensions to existing functionality 

  • have the opportunity to join a multi-year global project to standardize Sappi’s solution landscape for pulp and paper processes including the interfaces of future and current MES with Sappi’s ERP system and various automation equipment 

 

Required qualifications: 

  • Analytical and structured thinking is easy for you 

  • Due to your education or work experience, you’ve gained comprehensive understanding of the whole application development process from initial user discussions to post-go-live support 

  • You have solid knowledge in databases, specifically Oracle, PL/SQL  

  • Experience in programming tools/languages is helpful (e.g. 4GL, C, Java, .NET Core, JavaScript, ReactJS, HTML5…) 

  • You completed your university level education in the field of computer science and/or gained relevant professional experience 

  • You are willing to learn exciting industry-specific processes 

  • Ability to travel to other Sappi locations
