Overview

The Sales Manager is responsible for managing existing and new customer accounts with the goal of driving growth in sales of packaging grades for Sappi North America.  The initial focus will be on selling paperboard to domestic converters and end users.  Targeted applications include primarily folding carton, with some focus on food service board.  This position has a sales revenue responsibility of $50M with large growth potential.

  • Key contact within Packaging Sales organization to work with Manufacturing R&D and Marketing to develop new high-value products and the corresponding sales plan to enter into new markets.
  • Sales professional with strong technical background in the paperboard (folding carton and food service) packaging industry.
  • Ability to develop and maintain customer connections among specialty paper and converting industries.
  • Ability to evaluate customer needs, including paper specifications specific to converting application requirements.
  • Proven experience in identifying new markets and customers, and converting opportunities into commercial sales.
  • Ability to work with seasoned procurement officers, engineers and marketing officers at large multi-national corporations and C-suite level interaction at converters.
  • Ability to work with global accounts and manufacturing platforms to optimize returns and sales growth.
  • Mentor and train others on areas of expertise.
  • Accurate Forecast and Budgeting process
  • Ability to analyze current business to optimize business profitability
  • Build business cases for new opportunities, products and market segments
  • Provide analysis for improved processes for internal and external customers
  • Action-oriented, self-driven with the ability to work remotely from a sales office.
  • Team player, sharing commercial responsibilities with small, independent sales group.
  • 8-12 years of sales experience with increasing responsibility and leadership 

Excellent verbal and written communication skills; one-on-one and group presentations.
Proficient with Microsoft Office and Salesforce

Willing to travel extensively throughout the North American market.
