Summary:

The Energy Manager is responsible for the leading the mills effort to manage the renewable energy portfolio standard requirements and to evaluate energy use, increase efficiency and help reduce energy-related costs. Develop strategies, implement systems, and monitor consumption to ensure optimal use and cost savings for energy at Somerset.

Responsibilities

  • Support Somerset safety, environmental, and quality ISO Systems
  • Lead site energy team, develop and implement projects to improve profitability, efficiency, and achieve corporate sustainability goals
  • Lead Sustainability and Energy Team
  • Maintain benchmarking information for Somerset relative to other Sappi sites and competitors
  • Develop, report, and maintain steam, power, and water balances for the site
  • Develop and provide forecasting of Somerset fuel, power, and renewable energy certificates budget
  • Participate as member of Sappi E4 team
  • Participate in SAPPI membership of Industrial Energy Consumer Group
  • Maintain the SBTi glide path to align with the 5-year capital plan
  • Leading the Decarbonization Team for SNA within our SNA sustainability governance structure
  • Provide operational support in the utilities and recovery department as needed
  • Working in all areas of the mill to ensure the proper management and compliance of the site energy renewable portfolio standards

Required Education and Experience

  • BS in engineering and ten or more years’ experience in the energy, pulp and coated paper environment. 
  • Five years of related experience in managing energy related matter
