The Somerset Mill located in Skowhegan, Maine is currently in the process of accepting applications for full-time hourly general production positions.

 

Sappi offers an excellent compensation and benefits package, including but not limited to a starting hourly rate of $28.55, comprehensive healthcare, pension, and paid vacation. Successful candidates can expect to work full-time, 12-hour shifts, rotating between days and nights, 3 days/nights on then 3 days/nights off, as well as be exposed to several areas of the mill and experience schedule changes until permanent within a department.

 

Qualifications:

  • We are looking for individuals who can work safely in a manufacturing team environment, problem solve, communicate effectively, and preform a multitude of job functions.
  • We require a high school diploma and good work history. Experience with physical demanding work, military, post-secondary education, and recent job tenure will be considered.

 

Job Duties / Work Environment can consist of but are not limited to:

  • Exposure to high/low temperatures, noise, odors, dust, and chemicals
  • Shoveling, sweeping, pushing, pulling, overhead work, lifting, handing high pressure hoses, repetitive motion, sitting, standing, walking, climbing, bending, kneeling, crouching, crawling, squatting, and/or standing for long periods, etc.
  • Overhead crane and hoist operations
  • Working around industrial equipment
  • Operation of powered industrial trucks such as fork trucks, roll clamps, and heavy equipment such as dump trucks and loaders
  • Product sampling/testing of hazardous and non-hazardous chemicals
  • Confined space entry
