Lubrication Technician Serviceman

 

The Somerset Mill located in Skowhegan, Maine is currently in the process of accepting applications for a full-time hourly Lubrication Technician Serviceman.

 

Sappi offers an excellent compensation and benefits package, including but not limited to a starting hourly rate of $32.42, comprehensive healthcare, pension, and paid vacation. 

 

Entry Requirements:

 

  • High School education or equivalent.

 

  • Technical school degree in mechanical related field of study and/or three years of experience in lubrication or equivalent mechanical trade experience required.

 

Candidate preferred qualifications:

 

  • Ability to perform minor mechanical tasks and successfully pass a company selected basic mechanical aptitude test chosen by the Company, with input from the Union.

 

  • Ability to work well with others and succeed in a team oriented working environment.

 

  • Demonstrate knowledge of mill safety rules, safe working practices, utilize lock-out procedures and other safety procedures that may be implemented.

 

  • Demonstrate ability to learn and perform:
    • Basic computer skills required to work within a computerized maintenance and lubrication system
    • Read, understand and download lubrication routes
    • Plan and layout work
    • Have basic knowledge of commonly used lubrication products, including types of grease, mineral oils, synthetic lubricants, etc. and their proper application

 

  • Use and properly care for all personal and company equipment and tools such as hand and power tools, staging, mobile equipment, etc.

 

  • Demonstrate the ability to rig, handle and transport the equipment being worked on.

 

  • Individuals in the Lube Services position must, within one hundred and eighty (180) calendar days, meet the following qualifications specific to the Machinery Lubrication Technician 1 & Basic Piping/Tubing and Mechanical Application job classification.

 

 

Job Duties / Work Environment can consist of but are not limited to:

  • Must have physical capability to climb stairs and ladders
  • Lift and carry up to 70 pounds
  • Work with petroleum and related chemicals in a safe manner.
  • Exposure to high/low temperatures, noise, odors, dust, and chemicals
  • Working around industrial equipment
  • Operation of powered industrial trucks such as fork trucks, roll clamps, and heavy equipment such as dump trucks and loaders
