The Somerset Mill is currently looking for a Production Engineer to provide technical, process and production engineering support for the Coating and Additives Department.  The Production Engineer’s duties include optimizing process stability, identifying production bottlenecks and developing cost efficient solutions, integrating cost saving opportunities into the process while maintaining customer satisfaction for products in the marketplace.  The Production Engineer is also responsible for raw material projections, ordering and maintaining the raw materials inventory for the department.  A strong process controls background is important to be able to interact with operations, technical and maintenance on control issues in the Department.

 

Performance Objectives

  • Responsible for managing and complying with all safety, hygiene, Food Safety and environmental systems and programs to ensure a safe, wholesome workplace.
  • The incumbent will provide technical advice, training and service within C&A to improve process efficiencies, product quality and cost.
  • As a key member of C&A, the successful candidate will interact with all parts of the Sappi organization, internally and externally to recommend, initiate and execute projects.
  • Strive to devise new approaches for determining solutions to improve problems encountered.
  • Have the ability and desire to grow technically.
  • Will have the ability to fill in for the Area Operations Manager.
  • Have the desire and skill sets to be promoted to an Operations Manager or higher level of responsibility.

 

Entry Requirements

  • BS Degree in Chemical Engineering/ Mechanical Engineering
  • Demonstrated interpersonal, communication and project leadership skills
  • Strong computer, organizational and analytical skills
  • Strong experience in process troubleshooting
