Pulp Furnish Operations Manager
Somerset is currently looking for an Pulp Furnish Operations manager responsible for maximum production of pulp with high focus on safety, the environment, quality, and an optimum cost structure.
Required Skills:
- Understands the technical aspects of pulping, washing, bleaching, and chemical preparation
- Demonstrated leadership, strong troubleshooting and problem-solving ability.
- Must be willing to work variable schedule, depending on needs of business.
- Working experience of PSM, FRA, ISO, SAP, HAZMAT, PI-Process Book or other data historian a plus
- Safety systems, observations, feedback, training, and development of employees for them to be successful in working injury free
- Ability to lead team in safety systems work such as LOTO, and confined space for safe and timely effective mill shutdowns. Ability to comply with all mill safety policies.
- Ability to lead team in quality systems work such as SQC, Centerlining, and PI operational analysis.
- Ability to lead team in environmental systems work such as meeting air license standards, BMP, and spill prevention.
- Developing and implementing plans to track and deliver production plans
- Coordination of area maintenance and achieving the cost budget
- Annual budgeting for rates, operation and shutdown days, and costs
- Developing and implementing plans to overcome gaps in plan delivery
- Developing and implementing plans for improvements (day to day, Lean Six Sigma, capital) in all aspects of area
- Supervising hourly staff including on site skill development.
- Ability to use positive motivation to build an effective team, set expectations, observe behaviors & performance, give appropriate feedback, hold individuals accountable, lead change

- B.S. in an Engineering Field or equivalent preferred.
- Minimum 3-5 years’ experience preferred
- Experience in a unionized environment a plus
- Experience as a kraft pulp mill supervisor/manager or equivalent work experience in the pulp making proc
