We’re on the lookout for a Fitter to perform maintenance and repairs on machinery and equipment to ensure optimum plant availability.    

 

As a Fitter you will be responsible for: 

 

  • Maintenance, overhaul and repair of machinery and equipment
  • Fit, assemble, grind and shape metal parts and sub-assemblies to maintain production machines and other equipment 
  • Scope and plan work orders as required
  • Complete works orders
  • Adhere to all Engineering and Safety standards
  • Perform fault finding on equipment and participate in RCA's
  • Perform daily and weekly route and plant inspections; and report all defects
  • Maintain a high level of housekeeping

 

 

What are we looking for?

 

  • Matric plus full N2 Mechanical Engineering Certificate (All 4 full subjects completed)
  • N3 Mechanical Engineering would be an advantage
  • Recognised Fitter Trade Test Certificate
  • Sappi Internal Artisan Development Program or Apprenticeship would be an advantage
  • 2 years post-apprenticeship experience in a heavy engineering/industrial environment
  • Valid driver’s licence would be an advantage
  • Rotable overhaul experience would be an advantage
  • Roll Fitting experience would be an advantage
  • SAP experience in a manufacturing industry would be an advantage
  • Excellent fault-finding and troubleshooting abilities
  • The ability to work under pressure while following all procedures and standards
  • Must be able to perform standby duties, and at times required to work overtime at short notice
