We’re on the lookout for a Safety Technician to assist the Mill in ensuring all safety requirements (particularly those related to risk compliance) are adequately complied with through the promotion of safety and prevention of incidents / accidents and to support the implementation of management systems.

 

 

As a Safety Technician, you will be responsible for:

 

  • Providing expertise and support to all employees and contractors to ensure compliance with the OHS Act, SANS codes, policies, other safety and fire related legislation.
  • Performing regular audits on work instructions, work permits and isolations; including contractors, to ensure adherence to safety policies and procedures.
  • Responding to safety emergencies mill-wide.
  • Logging all safety incidents on ISOMETRIX, reporting unsafe conditions to the Safety Manager and the relevant supervisor of the department and/or contractor for action.
  • Facilitating Root Cause Analysis for employee or contractor injuries and assist the department in compiling reports as per the procedure.
  • Managing contractor SHE file approval.
  • Assisting with mill wide risk and document review according to integrated management systems requirements.
  • Managing mill wide fire systems’ (including CO2 and Fire Pump House) inspections as per plant maintenance schedules.

 

 

What are we looking for?

 

  • Matric plus National Diploma in Safety Management or equivalent
  • 2 years’ experience in a safety management position within a manufacturing environment
  • Computer literacy (MS Office Package)
  • SAP experience will be an advantage
  • Valid driver’s Licence
  • NOSA SAMTRAC will be an advantage
