We’re on the lookout for an experienced Cost Accountant to manage and coordinate the variable costing accounting functions within the Mill.

 

 

As a Cost Accountant, you will be responsible for:

  • Responsible for the complete variable cost function in the Mill and reporting to the Management Accountant
  • Manage direct reports and provide support, guidance, and training where necessary
  • Oversee financial stock control procedures
  • Ensure that accounting deadlines are adhered to
  • Prepare information for regulatory submissions, e.g PAMSA, Stats SA, and E4 cluster
  • Ensure the accuracy of production data, variable production costs, and management reporting
  • Compile the weekly and monthly variable costs forecast and compare to actual results
  • Compile the weekly management report for distribution to all HODs, accompanied by explanations on variances
  • Prepare the weekly rolling profit forecast
  • Responsible for Real Time Costing implementation at the mill, in conjunction with Process Engineering and IT
  • Responsible for implementing new BOMs at the mill, in conjunction with Process Engineering
  • Prepare annual variable costs budgets by updating the Bill of Materials based on proposed production plans, and assist the Management Accountant with the budget consolidation
  • Prepare FC1, FC2, and Estimate variable costs targets by updating the Bill of Materials based on proposed production plans
  • Administrative support to mill staff in respect of cost management
  • Render a service in respect of production, costing, and profitability analysis
  • Develop and submit proposals for new policies, procedures, and expanded services to the Management Accountant
  • Assist in the drive to achieve cost-saving objectives
  • Investigate and propose changes to the accounting systems
  • Ensure that all activities comply with health, safety, and environmental requirements
  • Assist the Management Accountant with ad hoc requirements

 

 

What are we looking for?

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, finance, or related field
  • Preferably 2 years of accounting experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Computer literacy (MS Office), SAP or similar ERP system
