We’re looking for an experienced  Manager: Planning and Development to manage the maintenance planning process in the mill and ensure adherence to planning, scheduling, and shutdown standards. Also, responsible for managing the relevant maintenance contracts appointed to him/her.

 

 

As a Manager: Planning and Development you will be responsible for:

  • Participate in developing and executing the mill maintenance management and improvement strategy to ensure equipment availability and efficiency
  • Provide a mill-wide service in the maintenance planning function and ensure standards and business processes are adhered to
  • Monitor and ensure data validity, integrity, and accuracy are adhered to through planners administering SAP PM, guidance and knowledge, and support to SAP PM users
  • Ensure SAP PM users are adequately trained and competent before authorising SAP access requests
  • Plan and coordinate shut logistics for annual shutdowns (Equipment inspections, scaffold logistics maintenance material requirements, etc.)
  • Deploy initiatives as well as focus on continued improvements in mill planning and scheduling standardisation processes and improvements
  • Identify, motivate, and justify capital expenditure projects for upgrades of existing infrastructure in area of responsibility
  • Support the Reliability department in the implementation of improvements in the management of asset initiatives, and alignment to Asset Management practices and standards i.e., ISO 55 001
  • Ensure continuous upskilling of planners and ensure all are formally qualified at QCTO MPQ 5 (Maintenance Planner Qualification)
  • Continually enhance and develop effective maintenance management systems, keeping abreast with the latest technology advances
  • Develop, Implement, and enforce quality standards and contract compliance for contractors
  • Ensure appropriate mechanisms are in place to ensure contractors and their sub-contractors comply with the mill’s safety and certification requirements
  • Ensure a safe and healthy work environment through compliance with legal regulations and mill procedures (e.g., OHS Act, ISO systems)
  • Ensure that the planning and development department and contractors comply in all respects with the relevant regulations by implementing the necessary control measures and rectifying inadequacies and non-conformances
  • Agree on the targets and manage the performance of the planning and development team in line with Sappi scorecards covering quality, cost, delivery, environment, people, and safety (QCDEPS) as well as yearly SMART objectives
  • Compile and manage annual budget for contracts managed

 

 

What are we looking for?

  • NQF6 Qualification (National Diploma in Engineering or related equivalent) MDP or relevant management qualification would be considered advantageous
  • Qualification in maintenance management, RCM, RCA, FMEA, FMECA trained, and in-depth knowledge of CMM / EAM systems
  • SAP PM proficient
  • Good knowledge of management of asset and asset management practices and ISO Standards
  • 8-10 years of relevant experience within heavy industry. Experience in the Pulp and Paper Industry would be advantageous
