We’re on the lookout for an experienced Superintendent: Electrical and Instruments to assist the Maintenance Engineer in controlling and coordinating all resources to ensure maximum plant availability at optimum efficiencies and provide high-level electrical and instrument support for plant process control and specialist field instrumentation and electrical systems.

 

 

 

As a Superintendent: Electrical and Instruments, you will be responsible for:

  • Provide Maintenance Engineer with shutdown labour resource planning schedules
  • Plan and ensure timeous procurement of spares
  • Track all labour-hire timekeeping and authorise before submitting to the Maintenance Engineer for payment
  • Manage contractors during shutdowns concerning safety, workload, discipline, etc
  • Ensure that all personnel policies and procedures are adhered to
  • Monitor completion of all instrument and electrical maintenance work in support of the mill maintenance strategy
  • Deploy labour to attend to breakdowns
  • Carry out inspections of artisans to check progress of jobs and standard adherence to ensure quality work is completed
  • Maintain daily, weekly, ad-hoc shut and planned shut work lists
  • Manage discipline of the team including reward and recognition
  • Administer time and attendance on SAP and manage leave requirements
  • Participate actively in the SHEQ process and participation in SHEQ Audits and safety meetings
  • Monitor adherence by personnel to safety training (work permit, First Aid, etc) and safety policies and procedures
  • Monitor adherence to the  plant modification system when requested to affect any changes to plant or machinery
  • Participate in Root Cause Analysis sessions as and when required
  • Manage workshop budget for consumables
  • Reduce wastage by ensuring optimum use is obtained from tools, consumables etc to reduce wastage to a minimum
  • Maintain all  SAP administration as per the roles and responsibilities matrix, including work order management, rotable management, BOMs, Time management etc)

 

 

What are we looking for?

  • NQF level 4 qualification
  • Trade Test Certificate in Instrumentation or Electrical
  • Minimum of 5 years post-trade test experience
  • Supervisory experience would be advantageous
