We are seeking an experienced Senior Human Resources/Labor Relations professional to join our team at the Sappi Westbrook Mill. The right candidate will have demonstrated exceptional leadership and be a strategic thinker.  In this position, you will be responsible for a wide range of HR functions, including Labor Relations, Employee Relations, Employment, Benefits Administration, and other HR generalist activities. 


You will collaborate closely with Southern Maine HR sites and corporate HR, ensuring adherence to HR policies and procedures while providing support to both salaried and hourly employees. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in HR policies and procedures and labor and employee relations.  


The incumbent will play a pivotal role in promoting a positive work culture, resolving employee issues, and ensuring compliance with all applicable labor laws and regulations.  This role offers the opportunity for career advancement to the HR Manager, Southern Maine within 3-4 years.


Primary Responsibilities:

 

•    Serve as the point of contact for all employee relations matters, including investigations, conflict resolution, and disciplinary actions.
•    Partner with union representatives to address grievances and resolve labor disputes in a fair and timely manner.
•    Assist with the collective bargaining process, including contract negotiations, interpretation, and administration.
•    Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement HR programs and initiatives aimed at enhancing employee engagement and organizational effectiveness.
•    Ensure effective communication of HR policies and counsel supervisors/managers on employee issues.
•    Provide assistance to employees with HR-related questions and concerns.
•    Manage talent and recognition programs.
•    Create and post job postings, advertise on various platforms, and maintain recruiter relationships.
•    Conduct resume screening, testing, interviews, and facilitate the selection process for all types of employees.
•    Manage onboarding processes, including orientation and benefits enrollment.
•    Maintain applicant tracking system and handle termination paperwork and exit interviews.
•    Aid employees on benefits-related matters. 
•    Oversee Westbrook site annual Open Enrollment Process and compliance processes.
 
Education, Skills, and Knowledge Requirements:
•    Bachelor’s Degree
•    PHR/SPHR Certification Preferred
•    7-10 years of HR experience
•    Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
•    Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills
•    Knowledge of employment relations law and experience with collective bargaining
