Overview:

We are seeking an experienced HR Generalist to join our team at the Westbrook Mill and Release Business. In this role, you will be responsible for a wide array of HR functions including Employment, Employee Relations, Labor Relations, HRIS, and Benefits Administration. You will collaborate closely with Southern Maine HR sites and corporate HR, ensuring adherence to HR policies and procedures while providing support to both salaried and hourly employees. This position requires handling highly sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and discretion.

 

Responsibilities:

 

Employment:

  • Create and post job postings, advertise on various platforms, and maintain recruiter relationships.

  • Conduct resume screening, testing, interviews, and facilitate the selection process for all types of employees.

  • Manage onboarding processes, including orientation and benefits enrollment.

  • Maintain applicant tracking system and handle termination paperwork and exit interviews.

 

Employee Relations:

  • Ensure effective communication of HR policies and counsel supervisors/managers on employee issues.

  • Provide assistance to employees with HR-related queries and concerns.

  • Manage talent and recognition programs.

 

Labor Relations:

  • Provide support in labor relations activities such as grievance investigation and data collection for negotiations.

  • Interpret contract language and advise on consistency and accuracy.

 

HRIS:

  • Develop and run reports on various HR metrics on a regular and ad-hoc basis.

 

Benefits Administration:

  • Collaborate with Corporate Benefits on projects and provide assistance to employees on benefits-related matters.

  • Manage annual Open Enrollment Process and oversee compliance processes.

 

Miscellaneous:

  • Update and maintain HR website and manage vendor relationships.

  • Handle administrative tasks such as creating POs and maintaining personnel files.

 

Education, Skills, and Knowledge Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • PHR/SPHR Certification Preferred

  • 5-7 years of HR experience

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications

  • Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills

  • Knowledge of employment relations law and experience with collective bargaining preferred
