We are on the lookout for an Electrician to Safely perform maintenance tasks to ensure long-term plant availability and reliability, contributing directly to overall equipment effectiveness (OEE). Provide specialized electrical services to diagnose faults, identify repair and replacement needs, and install, maintain, and upgrade electrical systems and equipment while keeping tools and materials maintained and available.

 

As an Electrician, you will be responsible for:

 

Safety and Environmental Compliance

  • Understand, perform tasks, and comply fully with all organizational SHEQ requirements, policies, procedures, and best operating practices.
  • Report all unsafe acts, maintain exceptional workplace housekeeping, and assist production personnel with plant isolation processes on request.
  • Participate in SHEQ incident investigations, identify root causes, and correct any deviations related to electrical maintenance.
  • Obtain valid work permits and strictly adhere to all safe work conditions throughout task execution.

 

Plant and Equipment Efficiency 

  • Install, test, connect, commission, maintain, and modify electrical equipment, wiring, PLCs, drives, and control systems.
  • Perform scheduled, shutdown, or remedial maintenance via SAP work orders/notifications, and accurately complete operational activity logs and status reports.
  • Troubleshoot electrical breakdowns rapidly to minimize downtime, participate in failure analysis, and report all defects or risks to the supervisor.
  • Complete daily/weekly inspection checklists, recommend preventative actions to the foreman, and perform diagnostic tests on AC/DC motor windings and insulation.
  • Draw required spares from Stores using SAP picking lists while maintaining tool and material readiness.
  • Knowledge transfer: Share operational and technical knowledge continuously with colleagues across sections.
  • Standby & Overtime: Respond to after-hours and weekend breakdowns on a standby rotational basis.
  • General: Execute any additional tasks within the legitimate professional scope of an Electrician.

 

What are we looking for?

  • Grade 12 or N3 Engineering Certificate.
  • Recognized Trade Test Certificate as an Electrician.
  • Minimum 2 years post-apprenticeship experience in a heavy industrial environment, with a strong focus on electrical fault-finding (advantageous).
  • Valid driver's license.
