We’re on the lookout for a HW Checker to assist the HW Operator to ensure the smooth running of the Chipper, addressing all non-conformances, breakdowns, problem solving from the log receiving deck conveyor to the Hard Wood chip pile.

 

As a HW Checker, you will be responsible for:

  • Assist with the safe start-up and shutdown of the plant and ensure operations are conducted according to standard operating procedures.
  • Monitor plant operation and performance to ensure the required production rate and quality specifications are maintained.
  • Conduct routine inspections of plant and auxiliary equipment, identify abnormal conditions or defects, and take appropriate corrective action or report them for maintenance.
  • Monitor and maintain chip handling and conveying systems, including removing blockages or foreign materials from the Chipper and conveyor systems and keeping dump chutes clear.
  • Take chip samples and perform required process checks in accordance with the relevant BOPs and operating requirements.
  • Respond to abnormal and emergency plant conditions, including carrying out required plant isolations as an authorised operator and escalating issues appropriately.
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping, 5S and environmental control within the area of responsibility, including keeping storm-water drains, conveyors and plant areas clean and free of chips and bark.
  • Maintain effective communication and operational records, including communicating plant abnormalities and maintenance requirements, completing logbooks/check sheets, SAP-PM notifications, permits and recording plant deviations.

 

What are we looking for?

 

  • Matric (Grade 12) with Math’s and Physical Science or an N3 in Pulp and Paper?
  • Experience in a Production Environment will be advantages.
