We’re on the lookout for an Outside Operator Uptakes #3 to safely and efficiently operate the equipment under his/her control, to ensure optimum production thereby reducing downtime and incorrect functioning of the plant. The incumbent must be the eyes of the Process Controller, and be responsible for all duties outside of the control room.
As an Outside Operator Uptakes #3 you will be responsible for:
PLANT OPERATIONS
- Takes and hands over shifts, ensuring effective communication and continuity of operations.
- Monitors, controls, and audits the functionality and operating parameters of all outside plant equipment.
- Performs pre-start-up inspections and executes equipment start-ups and shutdowns in accordance with approved procedures.
- Conducts regular equipment inspections, takes samples as required, and implements corrective actions to minimise downtime and production delays.
- Identifies, reports, and responds to abnormal plant conditions, breakdowns, power failures, and operating problems in consultation with the Process Controller.
- Maintains high housekeeping standards and performs additional operational duties as directed by the Process Controller or Shift Superintendent.
SAFETY, HEALTH, ENVIRONMENT & QUALITY (SHEQ)
- Creates and maintains a safe work environment by identifying, managing, and mitigating operational risks.
- Ensures compliance with all safety business processes, procedures, BBS practices, and applicable legal and regulatory requirements.
- Conducts plant walkabouts and inspections, reporting accidents, injuries, fires, and non-conformances while implementing corrective actions where required.
SHUT MANAGEMENT
- Maintains, updates, and prioritises the outside plant shut list and records equipment defects and operating information on the appropriate log sheets.
- Communicates equipment defects and maintenance requirements effectively with the Process Controller and relevant maintenance personnel.
SYSTEMS & PROCESS COMPLIANCE
- Ensures compliance with SAP notification and work order business processes and accurately records operational information.
- Communicates effectively with the Process Controller and other stakeholders to support safe, efficient, and reliable plant operations.
What are we looking for?
- Grade 12 (Matric) with Mathematics and Physical Science.
- N3 in Pulp and Paper.
- Minimum of 3 years’ relevant production experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
