We’re on the lookout for an experienced Engineer: Projects (Chemical) to collaborate with all disciplines within a project (or section of a project) to work towards the mutual goal of completing the agreed deliverables within the limitations of the predetermined schedule, budget and quality standards.

 

 

As an Engineer: Projects (Chemical), you will be responsible for:

  • Monitor and optimize the process so that efficiencies and raw material usage are improved by investigating new and alternative processes and equipment
  • Plan and obtain approval for plant trials for optimised process conditions and equipment
  • Develop specifications for all process equipment as per the PNID and complete necessary energy and mass balance equations for project designs
  • Develop block diagrams, PNIDs, interconnecting piping drawings, and FDS as required during a project
  • Conduct and chair HAZOPs for PMRS submission
  • Conduct software calculations of flows, pressures, and temperatures in order to determine optimal process line sizing and material selection
  • Develop and coordinate project justifications, cost estimates, and execution plans
  • Execute and lead medium-sized turnkey projects in Saiccor Mill and take responsibility for end-to-end service delivery
  • Controlling finance by managing supplier commitments on projects while tracking and pursuing invoicing milestones to maintain a favorable cash flow position
  • Derive schedules for project commissioning and process control optimisation on the project start-up
  • Contribute to the health, safety, and environment in the relevant section of the Saiccor process by completing hazard/ risk assessments for new equipment and processes
  • Ensure that process engineering know-how (processes, equipment, and technologies) is available and shared within the mill by ensuring that all electronic databases are kept up to date including Saiccor Virtual Library, SharePoint, and GTL
  • Co-ordinate training interventions for skills development of subordinates and project team members

 

 

What are we looking for?

  • NQF level 7 qualification (Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering) with 2 years relevant experience OR
  • BTech in Chemical Engineering/ Pulp & Paper Technology with 4 years of relevant experience within a heavy industry environment
  • Project management experience will be considered advantageous
  • Computer literate (MS Office, MS Project, SAP)
